        The school's 50th Jubilee is being held on Labour weekend. 

         All the details about the Jubilee are available from the school or you can    e-mail the school to get a registration form and all the information you require.

New School Hall

The Board of Trustees is looking at a new school hall.  Already plans have been made up and the hall in likely to be situated between the existing hall  and Rooms 9 and 10.

Network Upgrade

     The school and the Ministry of Education are collaborating to upgrade the school computer network system.  At the end of the project all classrooms will be networked to a central server.

     The project, when completed will cost the school $20,000 and the Ministry will pay $60,000.

     This will put the school at the cutting edge of computer technology.

     Kawerau North School is the only school in Kawerau participating in the "Fruit in Schools" programme.  Each child gets a piece of fruit every day as part of the scheme.

     We are composting all of the waste and the compost will be used to enrich the school gardens.

     We now have 4 worm farms and some of the fruit waste is used to feed the worms.  Again, the results of the worm action, worm juice and worm casts are all used for the school gardens or sold at a small cost to keen gardeners to enrich their gardens.

     Any money raised this way goes towards helping with Outdoor Education cost.
